Anyone got any ideas as to why my ABS light comes on and stays on after about a mile? When I stop, turn off and then start again it goes out as it should but then again comes on after about a mile.
Thanks

Ok my friend, I do not have the answer. But malfunction in sensor? Has the brake fluid been serviced? Could there be a voltage problem to the sensor, corrosion etc. There are many smart dudes on this site, I am not one of them.
But maybe I can get them thinking. I know that horrible feeling when something is wrong.
One last question, dose your ABS perform as it should? Ok another last question, have you had you had your gas tank off recently?
Good luck

In most cases it's either the distance between sensor and disc, or a wobbly ABS disc. Distance between sensor and ABS disc should be 0.1-1.5 mm. Use a feeler gauge to check. Disc must be straight and even. No wobble allowed. Rotate wheel (s), off ground and observe.

Have you had a new tyre fitted recently? Look for a bent wheel sensor ring or damaged wiring to the sensor.

Thank you all. I'll check the gap but no incident to cause damage or tyre change/tank removal. Strange how it works for a mile, you'd have thought that it would either work or not. When i find what it was I'll post result.
Cheers

Check yer alternator, make sure she's charging.

I won't believe it until it has been officially denied.

Colin that sounds interesting but I can't understand the reasoning. Could you elaborate a bit.
Thanks

Something I picked up on another Triumph Tiger forum about a guy whose ABS light kept coming on, turned out his bike wasn't charging and the ABS light was the first indication of things not going well. Not saying this is Ian's problem but it may be worth investigating.

Might come in handy one day

I've had the same thing happen which is why I put a voltmeter on.

Rear ABS disc was VERY slightly dented. It wasn't even visible until it was removed. Anyway, replaced and working now. Thanks to everyone that commented
